About the Citizens Forum

What is the Citizens Forum?

The idea of a Citizens Forum was first put forward by L Ron Hubbard in his article Unite and Win in 1969 [http://freedom.lronhubbard.org/page022b.htm].

The article speaks for itself and needs no elaboration from me. Please read the article and see what Mr Huibbard has to say about how we can rescue our government from the vested interests that currently dictate its policies; about Public Groups, the principle of Unite and Win, the purpose of a Citizens Forum and its role in counselling government

This is intended to begin the process of establishing the Citizens Forum described by Mr Hubbard in his article.

It is intended to replace and expand upon the original "Unite and Win" group [http://www.facebook.com/pages/Unite-and-Win/177276995620396] I set up last year when first inspired by Mr Hubbard's article. I hope all of you who gave Unite and Win such wonderful support, will join Citizens Forum and participate in it.

Membership is open to anyone anywhere on planet Earth who would like to participate, subject to the rules delineated below.

No matter what public group you belong to: a religion, a scientific community, charity, social reform group, a business, neighborhood and so on there are probably fundamentals we can all agree on and would wish to see govenrment implement so as to ensure the good survival of ourselves, our own groups and our fellow human beings. Examples might be the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, the principle that government should serve ALL the people and not just a few powerful vested interests, the right of all people not to be lied about or fed lies, the sanctity iof the Constitution (in countries that have one) and so on. Doubtless you can think of others.

The idea is to create a forum in which public groups can come together to freely exchange ideas, discuss issues, form a consensus, forge unity, coordinate activities and hopefully form a broad grass-roots confederation able to speak with one voice, a voice sufficiently strong that government will listen.

Please make use of it. It is for YOU. Aside from setting up this forum and monitoring the applicatuion of its simple rules, I will take no other role.

In time, if people find the Citizens Forum useful, we can look at the possibility of raising modest funds to build a full online Citizens Forum Community.

This Forum is not intended as a place for the endless expounding of conspiracy theories, for in so doing we can fall into the trap of becoming yet another talking shop that tells people how bad it all is. While no-one will be prevented from voicing their theories in the Forum, the emphasis will be on providing a meeting place in which solutions and constructive ideas can be expressed and shared and active campaigns promoted and co-ordinated.

As the founder of this group, I have my own ideas and do not necessarily agree with or endiorse the ideas expressed by others but I do supprt their right to express them, within the parameters of the rules set out below.

Membership is open to anyone except:

  • Persons or groups who break the law or advocate breaking the law
  • Persons or groups who engage in or advocate revolt
  • Persons or groups who seek or advocate the control of government by any vested interest or who do not seek or advocate a government designed and run for all the people.
  • Persons or groups who deny or seek to deny the full human rights of others and the fair and equitable availability of justice as a right of all people.
  • Persons or groups who advocate or support the use of psychotropic drugs, electric shocks or brain operations so as to modify or control human behavior.
  • Persons or groups who advocate war or violence as "solutions" to problems of human interrelations.

The purpose of the Ciizens Forum is to form a consensus able to provide government with wise counsel. As such it is not party-political. Any person or group that violates the above precepts will be barred or removed from this Forum.

In similar vein the following posts will be deleted by me or by adnminstrators appointed by me:

  • Posts advocating violence or the breaking of the law. This does not preclude anyone from advocating changing unjust laws.
  • Posts expressing religious or ideological hatred or intolerance.
  • Posts that are obscene, insulting or simply bad manners. We are seeking reasoned argument and a well-mannered exchange of views, not invective.
All suggestions as to how the Forum can be improved upon are welcome.
